PRINCETON, N.J. - Palmer Square will host "Meet Athletes on the Water" on Saturday, May 1, from 1 to 4 p.m. on the green at Palmer Square in Princeton, N.J. The event, which is free and open to the public, will give the surrounding community a chance to meet members of the U.S. National Rowing Team and learn more about the sport.
Olympic and national team athletes training for the 2012 Olympic Games in London will be on-site to sign autographs. In addition, rowing machines and rowing shells will be on display.
"Our goal is to integrate rowers training here in Princeton into the community," said 2008 Olympic gold medalist Anna Goodale. "I am always surprised at how few people are aware that there are elite athletes training in this area. The four-year road to the Olympics is long and exciting. We are looking forward to it and invite the community to be part of the journey."
